  • GALLOS brings together expertise in national security, business, technology start-ups and investor capital, to create an ecosystem that helps build and grow technology companies capable of countering new and emerging security threats.

LONDON (19 September 2023) GALLOS Technologies today announced the appointment of Sir Jeremy Fleming as Chair of its Strategic Advisory Board. Sir Jeremy was previously head of the UK’s intelligence, security and cyber agency GCHQ.

In his new role, Jeremy will help guide GALLOS’s strategic direction and build the next wave of high-potential security technology start-ups. Jeremy’s arrival cements GALLOS’s position as a world-class venture studio and venture investor in the security technology sector.

Jeremy was Director of GCHQ from April 2017 to May 2023. He led the development of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which has become a global authority in cyber security, bringing together Government, industry, and international partners to address cyber threats and inform the public.

Jeremy also oversaw the creation in 2020 of the National Cyber Force (NCF), a joint mission between GCHQ and the UK Ministry of Defence that leads the world in applying cyber effects to protect the UK and its allies. Under Jeremy’s leadership, GCHQ played a central role in the UK’s support to Ukraine as it resists Russia’s invasion, and in better preparing the UK for the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly assertive China.

Sir Jeremy Fleming, Chair of the GALLOS Strategic Advisory Board, said:

“I’m delighted to be joining GALLOS. At a time when the world faces rapidly growing and evolving digital threats, fuelled by geopolitical instability, it’s crucial that we promote innovation in security technologies. Our ability to protect both people and businesses, in the UK and other allied nations, depends on developing and harnessing the technologies of the future.

“GALLOS has brought together a very special combination of expertise and experience, to provide a unique hub for innovators to access long-term capital and a strong network to scale successfully. I look forward to supporting GALLOS in making the world a safer and more prosperous place.”

Josh Burch, co-founder and joint Managing Partner of GALLOS, said: “Jeremy brings unparalleled insight into the security challenges facing the world today. As Chair of our Strategic Advisory Board, Jeremy will help guide a world-class group of security, technology and commercial experts.”

Dean Jones, co-founder and joint Managing Partner of GALLOS, said: “The GALLOS team’s deep understanding of global security threats and vulnerabilities gives us a unique perspective on the technologies that can and should be deployed to help mitigate them. We look forward to working with Jeremy in the years ahead to help provide GALLOS companies with strategic advantage as they grow.”

Jeremy’s appointment is effective from September 2023. It has been approved by the UK Government’s Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACOBA).
